There is a classic comedy skit done by Abbot & Castello called “Who’s On First?”. If you haven’t seen it before you need to. When you step back and take a look at your life; Can you tell who is on first? I mean, who do you serve! Why do you spend your time and money the way you do? That might be a confusing thought at first just like the skit. You may say; I pour out my life for my kids, to make payments on our stuff, to put food in the fridge, so that we can go do various activities. Let’s simplify! Is your life lived to glorify you, your family, your stuff, or to glorify God?
Haggai 1:7-9 “Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. Go up to the hills and bring wood and build the house (the Temple), that I may take pleasure in it and that I may be glorified, says the Lord…why? declares the Lord of hosts. Because of my house that lies in ruins, while each of you busies himself with his own house.”+
The Jews had been allowed to return to their homeland after being held captive. Their greatest concern was re-establishing their homes and comforts rather than rebuilding the house of worship for the Lord! Are we so busy constantly seeking to improve our living in neglect of serving God and investing in the church? Who is on First?
