Progress cannot be found standing idle! If you are not moving forward the world is leaving you behind. I am sure someone famous said something like that.
When it comes to our Christian walk we should never be complacent. If we are not growing we are actually shriveling. I we aren’t hungry for the Lord we are running on empty. In the book of Hebrews a challenge is given to the believers. “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God” (Hebrews 6:1)
In other words. Those are the basics. Every Christian should know and understand those things, but we are not to stay there. You are to move on to Maturity. The author of Hebrews is actually shocked and disappointed that the people have not pursued a deeper knowledge of God. “For thou by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the basic principles of the oracles of God. You need milk, not solid food!” (Hebrews 5:12&13)
We have raised 5 children. If the only thing we ever gave them was milk, I am pretty sure they would not be healthy or fully developed. Are you settling for milk in your Christian walk instead of longing to know Christ and His Word intimately? Can you defend your beliefs? Do you understand theology? Statistics say that we live in the most intelligent society ever and yet Christians have never been so Biblically illiterate. What a shame!
