If you have ever gone fishing you have most likely held and earthworm before. They are so wiggly and squirmy especially when you are about to put them on a hook.
Have you ever thought to measure the length of one. It’s a seemingly impossible task between the stretching, shrinking, and squiggling which would only get worse if you tried to pin it down.
On a much grander scale; attempting to measure the Love of God is beyond any human measurement. You could try to use a scientific equation, chemistry, biology, psychology, or any tool of measurement you can think of but they would all fall short.
What is really cool! For those who have put their faith in Christ, we have been given the Holy Spirit and Paul says that the Holy Spirit can help us to not only understand but to experience this love that surpasses knowledge and is fuller than anything else we can find on earth. Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:17-19 is that you “may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breath and length and height and depth and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
There was a time a number of years ago when my wife was on a walk. She was feeling down and discouraged. She wondered where God was and if he cared about what she was going through. A woman driving by felt compelled to stop her car and tell Katie that God loved her. That is the immeasurable love of God in Christ Jesus. May you experience God’s great love today!
